Final thoughts on drinking, for now

Here is the truth: I enjoy an excellent wine. Relishing the herbal and fruit aromas, marveling at the rich color, savoring the smooth taste as it pours over the tongue leaving a pleasant aftertaste is truly enjoyable. Therefore, I am picky about my wine. No more Boones Farm for me!

This is my last rumination about drinking and thank you to those of you who have joined me on this journey. I am more mindful of what and how much and when I consume resulting in better moods and deeper sleep. Ignoring for now the toxicity of my vice, I will continue to partake but with full appreciation. I don’t smoke, don’t eat fast food, rarely eat fried foods and limit meats. So until the pandemic is over, wine will be my companion.

Cheers!

  1. Mary, I am with you all the way. I enjoy having a glass of wine or two. Not a connoisseur like you are, but still enjoy them. I also like different hard liquor drinks and I will usually have one or two before and during dinner. I am like you in that I don’t smoke, eat fast foods or fried foods. I did feel some of your anxiety in your writings because I have had some of those feelings, and know that you have put a lot of thought it your feelings and concerns. I feel that if it is something you really enjoy, you should be able to enjoy them in moderation. Sometimes my moderation includes more that it really should, but hey, we have earned the right to be ourselves. Miss seeing you, Mike and family plus all the St. Andrew gang. Life is surely frustrating right now and I pray that soon we can get off the merry-go-round and begin to live normally again.
